A note to Atmos marketing

My wife was doing her usual routine of paying bills the old-school way – opening a mailed statement, writing a check, slipping it into the return envelope and tossing the included Atmos brochure into the trash.

Suddenly, she yelled, “I smell gas! I smell gas!”

I rushed into the kitchen and confirmed there was indeed a strong smell of natural gas. I checked the stove, which was fine, and after a bit of investigation, we traced the smell to the trash can. When we pulled out the Atmos brochure, it was obvious – that was the source.

After looking more closely, we finally noticed a bullet point inside the brochure that read, “Scratch and sniff this area to smell what natural gas smells like.” Apparently, when my wife crumpled up the brochure, she unknowingly activated the scent.

It’s a helpful feature, but perhaps a note on the front panel might prevent a few unnecessary heart-stopping moments.

A little late

After the presidential election of 2020, I wrote in a letter to the editor:

“President Trump hates nothing more than losing. In his mind, he’s always a winner. So, his narrative is that since he’s a winner, ergo, he was going to win. And if he didn’t win, the only possible explanation was that the election was rigged and stolen from him.

“He will pursue that narrative to the bitter end and leave office still claiming to have won. In the time he has left, he will sow as much discord as he can. Anything not to be a loser. He has denigrated ‘losers’ his whole life, so he can’t possibly be one of them.

“Regardless of results, if Trump claims he really won, his followers will keep on believing him.”

Fast forward to Feb. 5 of this year. The president spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast and declared:

“They rigged the second election [in 2020]. I had to win it. I had to win it. I needed it for my own ego. I would’ve had a bad ego for the rest of my life.”

Confession may be good for his ego, but it’s a little late for the country.

Profoundly chilling

Quote: U.S. Attorney General Pam Bond’s reply during a congressional hearing I watched when asked to turn and apologize to the attending Epstein victims for showing their names and personal information and nude photos in the Epstein files, “ I will not get down in the gutter.”

No victim has been contacted by this Justice Department.

This should be profoundly chilling to all women in our country. Victims are humans, not sewage.
