Jail records show Garza was given a $250,000 bond for the murder charge which he posted on Oct. 22.

At around 2:29 a.m. on July 17, Weslaco police received a call from the Alamo Police Department regarding Garza and his claims of killing a woman.

Weslaco police responded to a residence located in the 600 block of West 11th Street where they discovered Mendez’s body with several gunshot wounds.

Caraveo stated previously that a child was home when the incident occurred but they weren’t harmed and were later released to the custody of family.

In addition, they said Garza drove to Alamo to confess to family members about what he did and they convinced him to turn himself in.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
