Cass County Judge Travis Ransom announces 2026 reelection campaign

CASS COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Travis Ransom announced on Saturday that he’ll be running for a second term as Cass County Judge in 2026.

Ransom was first elected to the role in 2021 and also currently serves as a Brigade Command Sergeant Major in the US Army Reserve. In Saturday’s announcement, Ransom listed several accomplishments from his first term in office, including:

  • “Improved county finances with clean audits and strong reserves — without raising the tax rate.”
  • “Increased support for Road & Bridge, including a new $4 million Transportation Trust Fund.”
  • “Raised salaries and strengthened retention across county departments, including support for law enforcement through SB22 grant funding.”
  • “Opened a full-time Veterans Service Office and secured over $1,350,000 in grants to support Cass County veterans.”
  • “Expanded rural broadband, with over 800 linear miles of fiber installed, reaching more than 8,000 homes.”
  • “And we have continued to stand firm in protecting private property rights, especially in the fight against the proposed Marvin Nichols Reservoir.”

Ransom said he’s committed to responsible leadership and transparency in government.

“There is still work to do — but we are headed in the right direction,” Ransom said. “I remain committed to responsible leadership, transparency in government and preserving our rural way of life and values.”
