Mount Pleasant ISD special education aide arrested for sexual assault of a child

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas (KETK) – A former Mount Pleasant ISD special education teacher’s aide was arrested on Friday for allegedly having an improper relationship with a student.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Mount Pleasant ISD was told about an alleged improper relationship at around 8:52 a.m. on Friday morning.

The district contacted Mount Pleasant PD and detectives arrived on campus to investigate the allegations. The detectives found probable cause to arrest a special education teacher’s aide at P.E. Wallace Middle School.

Jaquaven Rogers was allegedly working at P.E. Wallace and is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student from a different Mount Pleasant ISD campus, according to Mount Pleasant PD.

“MPISD has also filed the required reports with CPS and TEA. The safety and security of our students and staff members is our #1 priority we take allegations of inappropriate conduct very seriously,” the district said on Friday.

Rogers was then arrested for child grooming, improper relationship between and educator and a student and sexual assault of a child. He’s currently being held at the Titus County Jail and has been fired by Mount Pleasant ISD.
