DCAC’s Holiday of Hope brings joy to abused kids in Dallas
DALLAS (KDAF) — The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is launching its annual “Holiday of Hope” drive from December 3 to December 20, 2025, to support abused children and their families in Dallas County.
The program aims to provide gifts and a sense of community to nearly 1,300 children affected by abuse, easing the financial burden on families during the holiday season.
“Every donation has the power to create a small, joyful moment that can be a glimpse of the happy, carefree childhood every child deserves,” said Irish Burch, DCAC’s President & CEO.
Each year, DCAC supports more than 12,000 clients and eligible families on their journey toward healing, and the “Holiday of Hope” program plays a key role in fulfilling the nonprofit’s mission during the holidays.
Current clients and their siblings each receive a book, a cozy blanket, and three to four age-appropriate gifts, while each family is given board games to enjoy together.
For families where the perpetrator is the sole provider or a crucial second income, purchasing gifts becomes impossible, making this program essential.
The Holiday of Hope webpage offers gift ideas categorized by age range and links to wishlists, such as Amazon, Target, Miss A, and HDI, with specific gift requests. The most urgent need is for gifts for teenagers, a group often overlooked in toy drives yet a core focus at DCAC.
North Texans can support the Holiday of Hope by hosting a Toy Drive, making a monetary donation, or volunteering to sort gifts and select toys for children.
