Wichita Falls mayor talks all about community updates
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Wichita Falls Mayor Tim Short visited the studio and answered many questions about what’s happening in the community.
Kirby Middle School new home to Wichita Falls Police Department
- On Tuesday, November 4, the Wichita Falls City Council approved the purchase of Kirby Middle School.
- Renovations will be necessary before the building becomes the new headquarters for the Wichita Falls Police Department and municipal court.
- The deal is expected to be completed sometime in November.
Organizations recieve funding from City of Wichita Falls
- Helen Farabee Center, River Bend Nature Center and Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture received support from the city.
- What they bring to the table and to the community.
- Funded through the hotel and motel tax.
New siren policy for Wichita Falls
- The new criteria specify that the sirens will be activated when the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Warning for any part of Wichita Falls, or if a tornado or funnel cloud is observed by trained storm spotters within or approaching the city limits.
New data center in Wichita Falls updates
- Wichita Falls City Councilors signed a multi-million square foot data center agreement.
- The city sees this as an economic boost, creating new jobs, investment, and long-term tax revenue.
