JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KETK) — Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Monday that his office is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of 64-year-old Bobby Michael Dennis, who allegedly shot a Jacksonville Police Department officer on Sunday and stabbed a K9.
A Jacksonville PD officer was shot during an encounter with Dennis at around 4:41 p.m. on Sunday. Dennis is described as a Black man approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing roughly 152 pounds and was last seen wearing all-black clothing.
The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a BLUE alert for Dennis on Sunday night. According to the BLUE alert, Dennis was last seen in the 920 block of Benson Street at around 4:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Dennis has also been added to the 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
“Attacks on our men and women in uniform must stop,” Abbott said. “Our law enforcement officers who selflessly risk their lives every day to serve and protect must know they will always have the full support of the State of Texas. Anyone with information relating to this crime is strongly urged to call the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline or submit an anonymous tip online.”

All tips are guaranteed to remain anonymous regardless of how they are submitted. Additionally, Dennis should be considered armed and dangerous, and citizens should not try to apprehend him.
