DIBOLL, Texas (KETK)– At a special meeting on Aug. 4, Diboll ISD’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to place a $12 million bond proposal on the Nov. 4 election ballot.

The decision followed months of work by the District’s Facility Advisory Committee—a diverse group of parents, teachers, staff, students and community members. Throughout the summer of 2025, the committee met several times to tour district facilities, assess current conditions and discuss academic priorities with district leaders.

The proposal includes planned repairs at Diboll Junior High School. In addition to that, it looks to improve HVAC systems, roofing replacement, plumbing and utility repairs and other safety-related improvements.

Early voting runs through Friday and Election Day is Nov. 4.

Registered voters who live in the Diboll district may vote early from Monday, Oct. 27, through Wednesday, Oct. 29, between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Alternatively, voters can cast their ballots on Thursday, Oct. 30, or Friday, Oct. 31, from 7:00 a.m.-7p.m.

Early voting locations include the City of Lufkin Parks & Recreation Center, located at 512 Montrose, Lufkin. Voters can also head to the T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library (Community Room), which is located at 300 Park Street, Diboll.

Residents of Diboll aged 65 and older would be exempt from the tax increase if the citizens approve this proposal. Those who want to estimate how much their taxes might increase can visit the Diboll ISD website. On the right side of the page, they can use the “Personal Tax Rate Calculator” by entering their home information to calculate an approximate tax increase.
