PALESTINE, Texas (KETK) – Saturday morning’s rain cleared out just in time for things to heat up in Palestine for the annual Hot Pepper Festival.
The Hot Pepper Festival draws thousands of spice-lovers to the streets of Palestine every year to try the area’s hottest hot sauces, chili peppers, salsas and they even have a parade and a hot pepper eating contest.
“I was driving through the parade a few minutes ago and just tears came to my eyes because, we put so much effort into this in the weeks, days and weeks ahead of the festival and and for the threat of rain to make it all go away then the rain subsided and people came out,” Angela Howell-Fields with the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce said. “It’s been a great day, more than I expected.”
The festival also had non-spicy attractions like their beer garden, a kid’s zone, vendors, live music and a truck and bike show. To learn more, visit the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce online.
