WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A Wichita County jury exonerated a man who faced multiple charges of child sex crimes after finding him not guilty of the allegations pending against him.
Gino Veron, 38, of Wichita Falls, was facing one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact stemming from 2024, when a 13-year-old female made an outcry at her school, alleging that Veron had “raped” her.
Veron’s trial began on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, in the 30th District Court, with Judge Jeff McKnight presiding. The case was handed over to the jury on Thursday, Oct. 23.
The jury returned not guilty verdicts on each of the four charges pending against Veron, acquitting him of all charges for which he stood trial. The jury deliberated for around an hour and 20 minutes before returning its unanimous verdicts.
Veron was first arrested in April 2024 on one count of aggravated sexual assault and one count of indecency with a child. After spending more than 9 months in jail, Veron was released on bond in February 2025.
A Wichita County grand jury returned indictments against Veron in May 2025, formally charging him with two additional counts of indecency with a child. He was taken back into custody on May 10, 2025, and released once more on May 15.
The case was initially set for trial in January 2025, but Judge McKnight granted a continuance, delaying the trial until March 2025. However, the trial was delayed again after the alleged victim, who was set to testify, had a surgery scheduled during the time the trial was set to take place.
In April 2025, Veron’s trial was delayed once again after an outcry hearing resulted in new evidence being uncovered. A fourth continuance was granted in September 2025, further delaying the trial to Oct. 6, 2025.
According to court documents, Veron’s trial was delayed once in October 2025 after a lengthy volume of records from Child Protective Services was not given to Veron’s defense counsel in a timely manner.
