WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Kell West Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls announced Wednesday, in a joint statement with United Regional Health Care System, that it will cease operations in the coming weeks and will work with United Regional to ensure patients receive care.
Kell West said the comes after a review of “the evolving health care landscape, including
reimbursement rates, patient volumes, and the cost of infrastructure needs and care.”
“Kell West’s transition is the result of thoughtful consideration and examination of whether we could continue to sustain our commitment to our staff, physicians, and community,” Dr. Jerry Myers, CEO of Kell West, said.
As Kell West winds down operations, United Regional said it is prepared to take on additional patients, including those requiring surgical operations, emergency care, and inpatient services.
The joint statement added that United Regional will acquire Kell West’s property and facility for future use, with plans to develop new health care offerings and expand service availability within the community.
“United Regional is dedicated to providing unmatched health care and supporting our community and region through these changes,” Cory Edmondson, CEO of United Regional, said.
