Democrat Colin Allred won Tarrant County over incumbent Republican Ted Cruz in the race for U.S. senator in 2024. 

Allred received 401,742 votes, while Cruz received 399,927 votes. Allred won the county with 48.91% to Cruz’s 48.68%.

Across Texas, Cruz secured his third six-year term with 53.05%. 

In 2024, President Donald Trump won Tarrant County’s majority vote with 51.82% of the vote. Other countywide Republican candidates won with majorities, including Sheriff Bill Waybourn and Tax Assessor-Collector Rick Barnes. 

Before the 2024 election, the last time a Democrat won Tarrant County was in November 2018 when Beto O’Rourke received 313,497 votes and Cruz received 309,189. Cruz defeated O’Rourke for a second term.
