Celebrate autumn in East Texas: A guide to fall events and fun

TYLER, Texas (KETK) — From Oktoberfest to trunk-or-treats, East Texas is getting into the fall spirit with these events and activities.

KETK has compiled a list of fall events for East Texans to enjoy during September, October and November:

Athens

  • Oct. 4: The Oktoberfest hosted by Athens Brewing Co. will be a memorable celebration from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for people to appreciate live music, play games and drink refreshing beer.
  • Oct. 11: The Cain Center YMCA will be hosting its fall fest from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for families to enjoy vendors, hay rides, food trucks and games.
  • Oct. 17 to Oct. 18: The Athens Jamburgeree will be held downtown for an action-packed weekend for locals to shop from vendors, eat from food trucks, get their face painted and more.
  • Oct. 19: The annual truck or treat event hosted by the Henderson County Performing Arts Center from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Kilgore

  • Oct. 4: The Oktober Fest at Avalon Faire from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. will be for East Texans to enjoy beer, bounce houses for children, music and games.
  • Oct. 4: The Derrick Fest will be held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. for people to listen to live music, check out vendors and eat from food trucks.
  • Oct. 11: The Oktober Fest will be held downtown from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for families to experience German food, live music, drinks and family-friendly activities.

Longview

  • Sept. 20: The Autumn Market at The Chateau of Longview from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be a cozy day for East Texans to shop from local vendors, find seasonal treats and discover unique boutiques.
  • Oct. 2: The Fall Longview Art Walk in downtown from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. will be showcasing local artists and their talents.
  • Oct. 4: The Great Pumpkin Roll in downtown will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for East Texans to have the chance of winning up to $500 in prizes.
  • Oct. 17 and Oct. 18: For two nights, the Longview Public Library will transform the building into a haunted house filled with monsters, frights and spirits for their “Haunted Library” event.
  • Oct. 18: Pine Tree ISD will be hosting a community-wide fall festival from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at their Pirate Stadium for people to watch student performances, grab a free hotdog and check out over 50 booths loaded with games, prizes and activities.

  • Oct. 27: The Trunk or Treat at Texas Roadhouse from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will be a spook-tacular event for children to get their face painted, check out first responder vehicles, play games and eat tons of candy.
  • Oct. 30: Broadway Sports Trunk or Treat at 3130 N Eastman Road from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. will have giveaways, music and food trucks for East Texans to enjoy.

Lukin

  • Sept 18 to Sept. 21: The 41st annual Texas State Forest Festival will be non-stop fun for thousands of attendees, including activities such as an exotic petting zoo, the Lumber-Jacked 5K and Fun Run, Bear Hollow Wood Carvers and so much more.
  • Sept. 27: The Pumpkin Spice Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people can enjoy shopping, face painting, treats and more at 1200 S. First Street.
  • Oct. 18: The Vintage Vibes Fall Flea Market will have dozens of vendors selling vintage and antiques
  • Oct. 24: Lufkin’s Boo Bash on the Plaza will be a free, family-friendly trick-or-treating celebration in the heart of downtown from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (or until candy runs out).

Nacogdoches

  • Oct. 17: The annual Boo-tique Crawl will be in downtown from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for shoppers.
  • Oct. 25: Okto-BEER-Fest held from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Fredonia Brewery, will be for East Texans to enjoy food, live music, competitions and of course beer.
  • Oct. 25: Ghosts of Millard’s Crossing will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for locals to get a thrill of pony rides, face painting, candy, bouncy houses and more.
  • Nov. 15: NacoPalooza Music Fest and Pub Crawl held in downtown from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for community members to relish in multiple different genres of live music.

Texarkana

  • Oct. 4: Oktoberfest on Main will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for community members to enjoy cornhole, bounce houses, a petting zoo, German-style games and more.
  • Oct. 11: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., people can meet the “Michael Myers of Texarkana” at the Spirit Halloween. He will be handing out candy, taking pictures and scaring people.
  • Oct. 21: The nonprofit Runnin’ WJ Ranch will be hosting a Twisted Fall Bash at Twisted Fork Restaurant with live entertainment by Dog and Weed.

  • Oct. 29: The 1st annual Boo at the Barn community-wide event hosted by Runnin’ WJ Ranch will have trick-or-treat fun for the whole family.
