Theft allegations connected to youth cheer program in Electra under investigation
WICHITA COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — An investigation is underway after allegations of theft surfaced in connection with a youth cheerleading program in Electra, according to authorities.
Craig Hodgkins, Chief of Police with the Electra Police Department, confirmed on Thursday morning, Sept. 11, 2025, that the investigation is in the early stages.
“We are aware of allegations of theft connected to the Electra Youth Cheerleading program and have opened an active investigation,” Chief Hodgkins said.
According to Chief Hodgkins, an initial report of possible embezzlement of funds from a not-for-profit youth cheer program sparked the investigation.
Chief Hodgkins said that the cheer program is not directly connected to the Electra Independent School District, but the investigation does involve a teacher with the district. The name of the suspect has not been released at this time.
Chief Hodgkins said police are still awaiting bank records, and the investigation is ongoing.
“While we cannot release further information at this stage, the Electra Police Department is committed to a full and fair investigation,” Chief Hodgkins said.
No further details have been released at this time.
