WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Airmen and Sheppard Air Force dignitaries gathered to remember those who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attack.
On Thursday, September 11, the solemn event honored the lives lost and changed in the attack.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed that day, and thousands more have since passed.
The event was held to showcase the spirit, unwavering commitment, and resilience Sheppard Air Force Base has for Texoma and the community.
Event coordinator Trevor Griswold said it was an honor to be a part of such an important and memorable occasion.
“I’m super honored to be able to do this,” Griswold, SAFB 9/11 Rememberance Project Officer, said. “This is a huge day in US history. It was an absolute honor to put everything together and to put this ceremony on.”
During the ceremony, Fire Chief David Mounsey honored the fallen firefighters, police and first responders who gave their all with a bell’s tolling.
Sheppard dignitaries also shared their remarks and memories of the event that changed the world.
