LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) — Longview ISD released a statement on Wednesday announcing that Longview High School head football coach, John King, will not coach his Lobos this week.
The Longview Lobos are gearing up for their home game against Marshall on Friday, but will not be lead by 20-year head coach John King. the district said they do not have additional information on when King will return to coaching.
News about King’s cancer diagnosis came to light just before Longview’s season opener against Lufkin.
The district asks that everyone respect King’s privacy regarding his personal health during this time. Coach Oscar Wilson will take on the role as interim head coach for this week’s game.
