LINDALE, Texas (KETK) – 17 people have been transported to local hospitals after six vehicles were involved in a crash with two 18-wheelers on Interstate 20 near Lindale on Saturday.

The Lindale Fire Department has confirmed that six passenger vehicles and two 18-wheelers crashed on Interstate 20 westbound at around 4 p.m. near mile marker 558, east of Highway 69.

According to the department, 19 people were involved in the crash and 17 of those people were transported to local hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Interstate 20 is currently closed heading west from Jim Hogg Road.

Officials said the crash shut down I-20 at the Highway 69 exit and that the turnaround east of Highway 69 will be closed so the Texas Department of Transportation can examine the damaged overpass. Lindale Police Department officers will be directing traffic at the intersection of Highway 69 and I-20 since traffic lights will be shut down during TxDOT’s inspection.
