Ira Lance Allen, 27, was arrested by the Camp County Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly followed a car from Highway 271 onto County Road 1240, attempting to conduct a traffic stop after 9 p.m.

The person Allen attempted to stop became suspicious and continued driving to his residence, where he notified law enforcement. Allen then stopped following the individual. A deputy responded to the call and located Allen’s vehicle, leading to his arrest. Allen’s bond was set at $20,000.

The sheriff’s office reported that Allen’s vehicle was equipped with features typical of a law enforcement vehicle, including lights and a siren. Despite the arrest, “up until this time he had not attempted to impersonate an officer.”

“The person Allen was following did the right thing. If it’s dark and you’re unsure who is trying to stop you, turn on your flashers and proceed to a well-lit area,” the sheriff’s office said.
