Burn ban issued in Marshall due to increased fire risk

MARSHALL, Texas (KETK)– The City of Marshall has issued a burn ban due to an elevated fire risk prompted by dry conditions and a continued drought.

The ban is to be implemented immediately due to dangerously dry conditions, which increase the risk of fire throughout the area.

During the burn ban, the following activities are prohibited:

  • Outdoor burning of any kind, including burn piles, brush, leaves, or debris
  • Campfires and fire pits
  • Fireworks and other pyrotechnic
  • Welding or other spark-producing activities outdoors without proper safety measures

“Violations of the burn ban may result in fines and potential liability for fire suppression costs if a fire occurs,” the City of Marshall said.

For updates on the burn ban status, residents can visit the City of Marshall website.
