BREAKING NEWS: ‘Stop the Steal’ rally set for 4:30 at Tarrant County Courthouse 2

Stonewall Democrats of Tarrant County are encouraging supporters to attend a “Stop the Steal” rally today (Tuesday, Aug. 19) at 4:30 p.m. on the steps of the Tarrant County Courthouse, 100 W. Weatherford St., in Fort Worth.

The protest, opposing Texas Republicans’ efforts to force passage of racially-gerrymandered congressional district maps in the state to turn five Blue seats to Red, is sponsored by Fort Worth City Council members Chris Nettles, Elizabeth Beck, Deborah Peoples and Mia Hall, along with Unity in Community and others.

The organizers are calling for “#FairMaps” and for House GOP officials to “#FreeNicole,” referring to state Rep. Nicole Collier of Fort Worth, who Speaker of the House Dustin Barrows had locked inside the House chamber in the Texas Capital overnight because she refused to sign a “permission slip” accepting 24/7 monitoring by a DPS officer until the planned vote on gerrymandered redistricting maps set for Wednesday, Aug. 20.
