Condo plans on Speedway Avenue withdrawn by applicant

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The application for potential condo-style homes on Speedway Avenue has been withdrawn by the applicant.

In an email sent by Development Services Administrative Assistant Robin Marshall told neighbors of the withdrawal.

The email states that quote, ‘the applicant stated that he will reassess his plans’.

If the applicant decides to request the rezoning again, they will be required to start the process completely over.

The application requested that the city rezone nearly two acres of land at 1913 and 1917 Speedway Avenue and 2010 Avondale Street from single-family to multi-family residential use.

The developer told us on Monday that he can build up to nine condo-style homes on the lot.

He also said he planned to knock down the house at 1913 Speedway Ave.

Scott Murphy, a concerned neighbor, told us on Monday that he believes the community can’t support the homes.

“We already have power outages with some frequency. We have significant water runoff whenever it rains,” Murphy said in Monday’s interview. “It lacks transparency. It lacks support for the residents of this town.”
