Quanah Parker’s descendant shares family tales in Clay County

CLAY Co. (KFDX/KJTL) — The Clay County community knows more about the Comanche Tribe following a learning event on Tuesday, August 12.

Lance Tahmahker is the great-great-grandson of Comanche Chief Quanah Parker.

After a recent visit to the Clay County 1890 Jail and Heritage Center, Lance was invited to share stories with the community.

The stories were shared with the Clay County Bridge Street Annex.

“All my life, people have shared,” Lance Tahmahker, great-great-grandson of Comanche Chief, said. “Family members have shared stories of our family. And I get the opportunity to share with others. So, Comanches, their artist, some Comanches, they go to powwows and dance. I’m a storyteller, and I get to share family stories you won’t find out in a book.”
