Edgewood ISD heads back to renovated campus with new superintendent
EDGEWOOD, Texas (KETK) — Edgewood ISD starts their first day of classes tomorrow in the midst of some renovations. It is a special first day for new Superintendent, Scott Tyner, who is an Edgewood alumni.
“I’m very excited. I’ve been very excited to put purple and gold back on. It’s been a summer of walking down memory lane,” Tyner said.
As a former bulldog, Tyner wants to leave the campus better than he found it while the district is rebuilding the elementary, middle and high school campuses.
“We’re in the middle of a big building project, so the buildings that I actually went to school in are going to be part of the building project and they’re not going to be here anymore,” Tyner said. “So it’s been real nostalgic to be here and be a part of getting to see those things and have those memories and at the same time usher in a new era”.
The remodeling also includes new softball and baseball fields along with new turf on the Bulldogs Football Field. The high school gym floor is also currently being repainted.
“It bleeds into the hallways and good athletic ground and drives the school culture, “High School Principal John Hohnstreiter said. “Kids can’t wait to get the ball and kids can’t wait to go to an event or Friday night or a show.”
Superintendent Tyner says remodels should all be done after Christmas break.
