‘I need a diaper change’: Suspect only wearing diaper arrested after scaring girls in Tyler, charged with criminal solicitation

TYLER, Texas (KETK) — While two underage girls were bicycling through a Smith County neighborhood, they were allegedly approached by a man only wearing a diaper. The victims managed to run away, and the suspect has since been arrested.

According to a Smith County affidavit on July 29, the mother of one of the victims spoke to authorities and provided them with more information about the incident. The woman stated that while her daughter and her friend were riding bikes and scooters through their neighborhood, they noticed a man in a silver Nissan pickup parked on the side of the road.

One of the victims stated that once she got closer to her home, she once again saw the Nissan truck parked near a local elementary school. According to officials, a man got out of the truck only wearing a diaper and yelled at the girls, “goo goo ga ga, I need a diaper change.”

After the man approached them, the girls quickly left the scene and ran towards an alley nearby, where one of the girls spotted a woman she recognized, who helped her contact her mother.

“When [redacted] went outside, she saw the girls’ bikes, and the girls were trembling and said she could see the fear in the little girls’ eyes. [Redacted] asked the girls what happened. The girls took a few moments to get the words out of their mouths to speak with [redacted], because of how shaken they were.”

Following the incident, one of the girls identified the suspect as a man who was believed to be around 50 to 60 years old and was described as bald and heavy-set. The girl also said she and her friend were near the playground of the elementary school when the suspect approached them, although he stayed in the parking lot. The victim said she was physically shaken after what he said to them.

“The girls then said the ‘scary guy’ asked the girls, ‘will you change my diaper for me,'” the affidavit revealed.

A few days after the incident, members of the Tyler Police Department discovered the truck that matched the description one of the victims provided. The owner of the vehicle was identified as Wesley Wade Worl. Worl matched the physical description and has reportedly performed similar actions in the past, according to his arrest affidavit.

“Worl’s consistent pattern of behavior, spanning decades, demonstrates a clear, ongoing sexual interest in prepubescent girls and a deliberate method of acting out that interest in public settings,” the arrest affidavit said. “Each documented incident, from loitering near schools and parks to expose himself to young girls while dressed in fetishistic attire, reflects an escalating pattern of predatory conduct.”

Worl was arrested on Aug. 7 at his work without incident and is currently being held at the Smith County Jail on a total bond of $600,000. He was charged with criminal solicitation of a minor and criminal trespassing.
