Raymond Cooper’s legacy of service and compassion took center stage Saturday night as the Wylie community gathered to honor the late philanthropist at a fundraising gala supporting the nonprofit he helped build.

The inaugural Wylie Community Christian Care Center Night to Remember was held at Collin College Wylie on Aug. 2, drawing friends, family, local leaders, and community members for an evening of celebration, reflection, and support. Proceeds from the event benefit the Wylie Community Christian Care Center, which Cooper co-founded more than two decades ago.

Former Wylie Mayor Eric Hogue served as emcee, while Brother Al Draper and Pastor Raymond Perry delivered heartfelt tributes. Guests were greeted with straw fedoras upon arrival — a nod to Cooper’s signature style — and participated in a lively “Fedora Dash,” one of several fundraising elements of the evening.
