WFFD extinguishes early morning fire started by generator

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — An early morning structure fire had the Wichita Falls Fire Department out before the sun on Tuesday.

WFFD responded to the 1400 block of Burnett around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5. Units arrived to find smoke and fire on the south side of a home.

The fire was extinguished in roughly 30 minutes. According to WFFD, it was caused by a generator left running under the carport, which was being used to supply power to the home.

No injuries were reported. WFFD officials estimate $27,500 in damage to the structure and its contents.

The Red Cross was called to assist the occupants.
