Fatal Petrolia crash leaves one dead, another injured
PETROLIA (KFDX/KJTL) — A two-car collision in Petrolia leaves one dead and one injured.
Texas DPS Sergeant Juan Gutierrez stated that the crash occurred at West Benton Street and South Prairie Avenue in Petrolia on August 2 at 11:45 pm.
The crash resulted in one death and another in critical condition. Brittany Michelle Bowman, 36, from Wichita Falls, was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries from the crash. Marc Stephen Deffenbaugh, 47, from Abilene, was transported to United Regional with life-threatening injuries from the crash. Both drivers were reported not to be wearing seat belts.
After the crash, Highway 79 was temporarily shut down from the south end of Highway 148 to the north side of Jones Street. The highway has since been reopened. The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
