DALLAS (KDAF) — Before “The Chosen” became a global phenomenon, Dallas Jenkins introduced audiences to “What If…,” a story of second chances, faith, and the life you were meant to live. “It’s a Wonderful Life,” modern-day—the inspiration behind the story. Now, 15 years later, Jenkins brings this timeless story back to theatres with Fathom Entertainment for a special two-night anniversary event on August 5 and 7.

Still beloved by audiences nationwide, “What If…” stars Kevin Sorbo, Kristy Swanson, John Ratzenberger, and Debby Ryan. Notably, “What If…” marks the first faith film for Jenkins and for Kevin Sorbo—an early signal of the impact Jenkins would later make on global faith audiences.

The story follows Ben Walker (Kevin Sorbo), a businessman who abandoned his faith. One day, Ben wakes up living the life he was destined for—married to his college sweetheart (Kristy Swanson) and serving as a small-town pastor. Featuring memorable performances by John Ratzenberger and Debby Ryan, the film blends humor, heart, and a powerful family theme.

“Before ‘The Chosen,’ this was the project that changed everything for me. ‘What If…’ helped me realize the kinds of stories I want to tell,” said director Dallas Jenkins. “To this day, I hear from people who loved it, so I was thrilled to reconnect with the cast so we could bring back this movie to a new audience.”

Theatrical-Only Bonus Content

The anniversary event with Fathom Entertainment will feature brand new bonus content only available in theatres, including an exclusive filmed cast reunion and roundtable hosted by Jenkins himself. This never-before-seen segment brings together Sorbo, Swanson, Ratzenberger, and Jenkins’ longtime collaborator and producer, Michael Scott, for a heartfelt look back at the film’s creation and its continued relevance today, inviting audiences to reflect on their “what if” moments and find hope through faith and second chances.
