Bassmaster ranks East Texas lake as third best bass lake of 2025
TYLER, Texas (KETK) – Bassmaster has ranked an East Texas lake as among the top three bass lakes in the United States for 2025.
Every year the fishing website and magazine ranks the top 100 best bass lakes in the country based on results from bass tournaments, data from state fisheries and polls of thousands of anglers.
This year, the 27,690-acre Lake Fork near Quitman was named as the third best bass lake in the country, moving the lake up two places since last year’s top 10 where the lake ranked fifth best overall.
“How is it that this lake continues to impress so greatly given the natural wax and wane of fisheries and the significant number of boats that crisscross Lake Fork pretty much daily in search of big bass? Call it fate. Call it nature smiling on this water. Call it great management by Texas Parks and Wildlife,” Bassmaster said. “But whatever you do, call on Lake Fork early and often.”
According to Bassmaster’s 2025 top 10, Lake Fork produced 36 Toyota ShareLunker bass over 8 pounds between Jan. 1 and April 30 of this year, more than any other lake in the state.
Lake Fork wasn’t the only Texas fishery to make the list this year. O.H. Ivie lake was ranked second overall this year, a feat it also achieved last year after ranking first overall in 2023.
Several East Texas lakes were also ranked in this year’s Bassmaster Best Bass Lakes in their central division including:
- Lake Fork at #2 in the Central Division
- Sam Rayburn Reservoir as #4 in the Central Division
- Toledo Bend Reservoir as #5 in the Central Dvision
- Lake O’ the Pines as #16 in the Central Division
- Caddo Lake as #19 in the Central Division
