WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Local businesses and organizations are teaming up to collect donations for the Hill Country flood victims, and There are many ways local residents can help.
Garrett Duvall with Rancher Navy Texas Farm and Ranch Disaster Relief will be collecting livestock supplies to take to Central Texas. Supplies, he said, can often be overlooked. Affected residents need everything from power tools such as chainsaws, generators, shovels, gloves and most importantly, feed, as well as fencing that needs to be replaced.
They will also take monetary donations in-store or by calling The Feed and Garden Store at 940-761-1227 during regular operating hours.
From now through Sunday, July 13, proceeds collected at local Market Street or United locations will support relief efforts.
In addition to being able to add any dollar amount to your grocery bill at check-out, you can also use the QR code on your screen to donate directly to the Albertson’s Foundation Flood Relief Fund.
For the yogies out there, Balance Yoga and Barre Studio off Midwestern Parkway is hosting short, sample-sized classes on Saturday, July 12 with all proceeds going to the Kerr County flood relief fund.
Their ‘align for aid’ fundraiser will feature five 30-minute classes on Saturday morning with 10-minute breaks in between. You can attend just one class or all five and pay a donation either online or in person before the class.
It all kicks off at 9:30 that morning and you can sign up under the ‘schedule‘ tab on their website.
This pair of organizations is asking the community to help provide cleaning supplies. They are looking for brooms, mops, long non-latex gloves, face masks, bleach and cleaners with bleach, large heavy-duty garbage bags, and buckets.
Items can be dropped off at either Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wichita County at 1526 Weeks St., Suite A or at Alan Donaldson State Farm at 2301 Midwestern Parkway, 115b.
These locations will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to accept those items.
As families continue to recover from the deadly flood in central Texas, Terry Brown and his wife, Hilda Machado Brown, are putting on a concert and trick roping show to raise funds for victims.
This weekend, support will come in the form of beats and a rope. The show starts Saturday, July 12, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Velvet Rodeo in Wichita Falls.
Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation fundholders can recommend grants by logging in to the Fund Advisor Portal.
The Community Foundation of Kerr County also has a relief fund set up as well as the San Angelo Area Foundation.
Other non-profits can be found on the Communities Foundation of Texas website.
While the Salvation Army and participating agencies are asking the public to hold off on in-kind donations, financial gifts are the most effective way to meet needs on the ground. Donations can be made over the phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY or online at helpsalvationarmy.org.
