2025 Nexstar Sports Awards: Team Spirit Award
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The seventh annual Nexstar Sports Awards and Hall of Fame banquet kicked off at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum on the campus of Midwestern State University.
It’s not only the players and coaches on the field that can make the difference in a game, but the mascot, band, or cheer squad, who may not be the ones making plays, but are certainly making an impact on the game.
Three organizations from Texoma schools were nominated for the 2025 Team Spirit Award:
- Holliday High School Band
- Jacksboro High School Cheer
- Northside Cheer
WINNER — Holliday High School Band
Holliday High School holds the longest active UIL State Marching Contest qualifying streak in Class 3A. In 2025, the Eagles made their 17th consecutive trip, successfully advancing to State in every opportunity they’ve had since 1993.
With their 2025 performance, titled “Eagle Airlines”, the 140-student ensemble earned an eighth-place finish in San Antonio, contributing to Holliday’s success in winning the Lone Star Cup.
