Across the 10-month sports season, including every team in Texoma and the many sports they participate in, the season’s best plays stand out among the rest. However, only one can be named the 2025 Play of the Year.
Three plays were nominated for 2025 Play of the Year:
- “Toe Tap Touchdown” — Joe Castles & Kenji Johnson
- “Kick Heard ‘Round WF” — Cris Rios
- “Eagles Steele Gold” — Holliday 4×4 Relay
WINNER — “Eagles Steele Gold” (Holliday 4×4 Relay)
At the UIL State Track Meet in Austin, Texas, the Holliday Eagles boys’ 4-by-4 relay team ran a perfect race. The group, made up of Ty Harrison, Brayden Hamil, Vaughn Hamil, and Steele Skinner, teamed up to complete the mile as a team in 3:17.74s.
Holliday began the final lap in second place, when anchor leg runner Steele Skinner came from behind, winning the race at the finish line.
Skinner not only earned his team gold medals in this event, but his performance helped the Eagles clinch the first overall team title since 1999.
