WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The seventh annual Nexstar Sports Awards and Hall of Fame banquet kicked off at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum on the campus of Midwestern State University.

Esprit de corps is a French term that loosely translates to “pride, loyalty, and camaraderie”.

The Esprit de Corps award, introduced in 2021 by KFDX Sports Journalist M.J. Baird, is awarded every year to a Texoma team that best embodies pride in their school, loyalty to their team, and camaraderie with their fellow teammates.

Unlike the Team Spirit Award, which is given to a cheer team, band, or mascot, Esprit de Corps is awarded to the actual student-athletes and coaching staff that make up the team.

WINNER — Seymour Boys’ Basketball

The criteria for Esprit de Corps are devotion to the reputation of the group as a whole and the extent to which the program values its reputation among outsiders.

The winner of the Esprit de Corps Award at the 2025 Nexstar Sports Awards for embodying pride, loyalty, and camaraderie as a team is the Seymour High School Boys’ Basketball team.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Seymour High School Boys’ Basketball team on Thursday, July 10, was Tarrington Rivers, Brayden Loyd, and Brason Zeissel.
