Wichita Falls man collecting donations for Central Texas flood victims

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — We first spoke with Garrett Duval, whose picture of Ash the Cow went viral during the devastating panhandle fires last year. Now, Duval is jumping into action with the organization “Rancher Navy” to help the thousands of families affected by the recent floods. Still, he said he can’t do it without the community’s help.

With at least 90 deaths reported so far and more expected throughout the coming days and thousands and thousands of families affected by the recent Central Texas floods, Spokesman for Rancher Navy Texas Farm and Ranch Disaster Relief, Garrett Duval, said their team is jumping into action to help those affected.

“Every disaster. We’re just here to help. There’s groups of people that help everybody. They help anywhere from the person, the kids, the homes and our group. We help livestock. We’re here to take care of animals. That’s what seems to get left out and that’s kind of where we are, we help livestock,” Duval said.

But Duval said they cant provide help without the communities help.

“Right now we need feed, and we need fencing material, panels, the feed and garden store here on Jacksboro Highway. They have graciously set up an account where people can call them and or come by and they can donate money,” Duval said. “They will hold the feed for us, hold the money to get what we need. And then we have trucking set up, and we will truck it to South Texas or to whoever needs it.”

Duval said the number of donations they’ve received already speaks volumes about the Lone Star State and the people who live there.

“I love it. I love that the Texas mentality is to jump in and help each other out. From all the wildfires that we’ve worked, hurricanes, and now this, these floods, it’s always Texas bands together instantly. We don’t we don’t really wait around. We hop in together and start knocking stuff out. And that’s awesome to have a community that has our back every time,” Duval said.

Texans helping Texans, through any disaster they may be faced with.
