AAU basketball holds carwash in Tyler to raise money for upcoming tournament
TYLER, Texas (KETK)– An Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team is spending their Fourth of July hosting a carwash in Tyler to raise money for an upcoming tournament.
The Tyler Prospects, an AAU basketball program based out of East Texas, held a car wash at the Office Barn on Highway 69 on Friday to raise money for an upcoming tournament in Las Vegas later this month. The car wash was attended by players on the Tyler Prospects, coaches and families.
The owner of the Tyler Prospects, Chris Aubrey, spoke about how the carwash is a reminder that his program is doing things the right way.
“Every year it’s a reminder that we’re doing things the right way and that we’re going to continue to do it that way,” Aubrey said. “I am a believer that when you do things the right way and keep perspective, things will work out for you.”
Aubrey said any students from third through tenth grade wanting to join the Prospects are welcomed to participate in their tryouts this upcoming January.
