Here’s how SNAP users can enjoy more fruits and veggies
DALLAS (KDAF) — SNAP users can enjoy more fruits and veggies with the help of Double Up Food Bucks, which doubles the value for produce purchases.
Matt Dufrene, VP of Texas Health, and Julia Johnson, from Foodland Markets, explain more about how Double Up Food Bucks works.
“Double Up Food Bucks is a program that allows SNAP users to double the value of their purchases when they purchase produce,” Dufrene said. “It’s as easy as if you buy $20 worth of produce, you only pay $10 using your SNAP benefits, and we cover the other $10. It’s super simple, but it encourages people to eat more produce.”
Foodland, a Texas-based grocer, was the first store to get involved with the program before it expanded to include nearly 20 other markets.
“We love serving our community with healthy food options,” Johnson said. “This program, Double Up Food Bucks, allows us to do that in a bigger, better way.”
