Scooter-riding suspect arrested in drug trafficking zone
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office said suspicious activity is what led deputies to arrest a man early Thursday morning.
According to arrest documents, just after midnight on Thursday, June 26, a Wichita County Sheriff’s Deputy saw a person on a self-propelled scooter leave the sidewalk and begin to travel northbound in the southbound lanes of Kemp Boulevard.
The deputy said he knew the location to be a high drug trafficking area, so he made the block and found the rider on Buchanan Street. The deputy initiated a stop when the rider attempted to cut across the parking lot of a church.
When the deputy asked the rider for an ID, he said he did not have one, but identified himself as Justice Zimmer.
During a search of Zimmer, the deputy located a knife, several bullets, a hard metal object Zimmer said was a tool, and a yellow plastic baggie with residue of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine.
Deputies said Zimmer also had a backpack that had a plastic cylinder holding two more baggies, one with more residue and the other with a crystal-like substance, both of which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Zimmer was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Wichita County Jail with a bond of $10,000.
At the time of publication, the Wichita County Jail log also showed that Zimmer was charged with fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, but information on the charge was not available.
Zimmer’s total bail is set at $35,000.
