Pharr couple accused of killing their infant, few details released
A Pharr couple was charged Monday morning at Pharr Municipal Court for the death of their 2-month-old child.
Miguel Angel Ortiz Jr., 37, and Karina Aidee Ramirez, 34, are both charged with capital murder of a child under 10 years old. Ortiz was also charged with possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence, according to Pharr spokesman Michael Martinez.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Sunday.
Pharr police released no other details.
Ramirez was given a $3 million bond on the capital murder charge while Ortiz was given a $5 million bond on the charge.
Both suspects are being held in the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center.
