Edinburg man drowns near Beach Access No. 5 on South Padre Island
An Edinburg man died Saturday after drowning near Beach Access No. 5 on South Padre Island.
Cameron County Park Rangers Chief Horacio Zamora identified the man as Alberto Lorenzo Galvan.
In a news release, the agency said rangers were dispatched approximately a mile north of Edwin King Atwood Park, commonly known as Cameron County Beach Access No. 5, in reference to a swimmer in distress.
On arrival, rangers observed Cameron County Beach Patrol Lifeguards carrying the unconscious man and initiating CPR efforts on Galvan, according to the release.
Emergency personnel transported Galvan to Valley Regional Hospital in Brownsville where he was pronounced deceased.
