Texas man gets 40-year sentence for methamphetamine crime

SEYMOUR (KFDX/KJTL) — A man recently convicted of possessing drugs in Seymour pleaded guilty to his charge this week.

Seymour police said that as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into the illegal sale and distribution of narcotics within Seymour, the city officers made a traffic stop at the intersection of US 277 and US 183 on June 26, 2024.

Officers said a K-9 unit from the Graham Police Department came in to assist, alerted police to the odor of narcotics, prompting a search of the vehicle.

Police said they found nearly 20 grams of methamphetamine concealed in the steering column.

As a result, William Nicholas Joyce was arrested and charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

The 50th District Attorney’s Office secured a guilty verdict yesterday through a plea agreement.
He was sentenced to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
