UT Tyler pitcher earns All-American defensive honors after Patriots cap off historic season

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – A pitcher for the UT Tyler baseball team who committed no errors all season was named to the NCAA Division II Gold Glove Team.

Senior Nick Niebur played a big role in helping the Patriots reach the NCAA Division II World Series for the first time in program history. Niebur was a big factor in the Patriots’ lone win during the World Series, where he pitched for two innings and allowed zero runs in the team’s victory against Felician on June 2.

The Patriots finished their 2025 season with a 49-13 record, which was the best record in program history, largely because of Niebur’s contributions.  From the mound, Niebur finished the season with a solid 1.41 ERA through 51 innings. Niebur was also exceptional on the field, committing zero errors and getting 19 assists and three putouts.

Along with being named to the Gold Glove Team, Niebur was also named to the Rawlings All-Region Defensive Team and was included on the D2 Baseball First Team All-American Team. Angelo State catcher Blake Wilhoite was also named to the Gold Glove Team.
