LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – Fresh off a state semifinals appearance, Longview Football hit the field Monday night at Lobo Stadium for their Green and White Game to wrap up spring football.
The Lobos went 12-3 in 2024, losing a 20-17 heartbreaker on a last-second field goal to Southlake Carroll in the 6A D2 state semifinals.
Monday’s spring game offered Longview head coach John King and his staff a chance to get one final look at the Lobos before the team’s summer offseason.
Longview quarterbacks Johnny “Tre” Hamilton and Jacaiden Davis made some nice plays through the air during the spring game, while soon-to-be sophomore wide receiver Jaden Hurndon also flashed his ability on the outside.
Javier Glave and Javarion Pereira were also top performers on the offensive side of the ball, with wideout Key’Marion Pickron also making a couple of nice catches for the Lobos.
After the Green and White Game, King discussed the state of the Lobos with just over three months until the 2025 season kicks off.
“The biggest thing is replacing four offensive linemen on offense. Quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers, I mean, not that they’re not important, but you gotta be good up front. I think our defensive line gave us a good challenge all Spring. We’ve got some good players there. I was excited to watch our linebacker play because we lost three great ones to graduation there, and our secondary played well, so I think our defense has the chance to be pretty good. We gotta just find the right five up front,” King said.
Longview welcomes longtime rival Lufkin to town to open the 2025 season. Kickoff between the Lobos and Panthers is set for Friday, August 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Lobo Stadium.
