WFISD Booster Club dissolved after internal audit

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A Wichita Falls high school booster club has been dissolved after officials with the Wichita Falls Independent School District said a routine financial review revealed a lapse in district protocols.

District officials say the Wichita Falls High School Swim Booster Club has been dissolved and is no longer affiliated with the WFISD.

The dissolution of the booster club followed a financial review by WFISD’s internal auditor, which resulted in the discovery of “non-compliance issues” and “serious lapses in booster club protocols and procedures that have resulted in fractured leadership and membership.”

The audit resulted in the booster club receiving notice from Scot Hafley, Assistant Superintendent of Operations at WFISD, that the club must “immediately dissolve as an organization representing WFISD faculty and students” on April 23, 2025.

District officials made it clear in the notice that it wasn’t an accusation of any financial crimes against any individual, but they said the audit resulted in “incomplete financial statements suggesting misuse of Booster Club funds.”

While no criminal charges have yet been filed, a spokesperson with the Wichita Falls Police Department confirmed a police report has been made in this matter.

According to a source that spoke to Texoma’s Homepage on the condition of anonymity, the financial discrepancies discovered by WFISD’s audit total over $3,600 and could amount to much more.

According to the notice from WFISD, the remaining booster club funds will be divided equally between Memorial High School and Legacy High School.
