Camp V holds BBQ cook-off to celebrate East Texas Giving Day

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – Camp V hosted a BBQ cook-off this afternoon in celebration of East Texas Giving Day.

Camp V is a 20-acre veterans’ campus located in Tyler which provides a number of different resources to veterans along with their families. The camp also strives to connect East Texas veterans by offering fellowship and support for past service members.

The event was sponsored by Goosehead Insurance Phaup Agency and was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Camp V. During the event a BBQ lunch was provided for $10, but anybody with a military ID was given their meal for free.

Additionally, live music was performed during the event provided by local East Texas band, The Fireside Dogs. A BBQ competition and cornhole contest sponsored by Stonewater Roofing were also held throughout the day, along with a raffle.

All proceeds made during the event went towards helping veterans through programs offered at Camp V. Camp V Executive Director Travis Gladhill explained the positive impact that donations have on Camp V and the veterans they serve.

“Giving to CampV means that you are supporting your East Texas military veterans with services and programs they desperately need and deserve,” Gladhill said “These veterans gave so much to you and our country, please help us make every day Veterans Day through a donation during East Texas Giving Day.”
