Troup Fire District Station 1 now staffed with full-time firefighters to enhance fire protection

TROUP, Texas (KETK) — Smith County ESD2 announced Thursday that Troup Fire District Station 1 is officially staffed with full-time professional firefighters 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Officials said that since April 1, the ESD2 fire station located at 204 E Wilkinson Dr. in Troup is fully staffed with a dedicated crew on-site around the clock.

“This marks a significant enhancement in fire protection and emergency response services for the residents and businesses of Troup,” ESD2 said. “We are able to drastically reduce response times and improve the readiness to respond to fires, EMS calls and other emergencies within the city and around the area.”

The transition from part-time and on-call coverage to full-time staffing represents Smith County ESD2’s “commitment to continuous improvement and public safety.”

Smith County ESD2 said staffing will also support their long-range plan to improve service delivery across the district. “We are confident this will bring a measurable benefit to the citizens of Troup and surrounding areas,” ESD2 said.
