Traffic pursuit ends with arrest at Harrold Truck Stop
ELECTRA (KFDX/KJTL) — A man has been booked into the Wichita County Jail after reports of reckless driving.
On Wednesday, April 16, just before 8 p.m., the Iowa Park Police Department received reports of a possible intoxicated driver on Hwy 287.

The subject had tried to purchase alcohol from a gas station in Iowa Park, but was refused due to being intoxicated. The vehicle was allegedly traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 287 and almost crashed into a tractor-trailer.
As the vehicle entered Wilbarger County, it was seen by officers swerving across lanes from the median to the shoulder and almost hitting several vehicles head-on, causing them to run off the roadway. The suspect then crossed the median to get onto the northbound lanes.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to drive, speeding up to over 70 miles per hour.
After approximately two miles, the vehicle pulled into a truck stop in Harrold.
The driver was identified as James Patrick Ellis of Silsbee. He was taken into custody for evading arrest, then admitted to drinking before driving.
Ellis was then given a blood alcohol analysis, with the results showing his blood alcohol content to be 0.188. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated.
Ellis is being held in the Wichta Co. Jail on bonds totaling $30,000.
