Rally to defend democracy set at Dallas City Hall on Saturday

Organizers with the national 50501 Movement this week announced a rally taking place Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla Street. The 50501 Movement is the same grassroots initiative behind the massive “Hands Off!” protests staged around the country on April 5, and the Saturday rally, “continues our commitment to defending democracy, justice and the rights of all Americans,” noted local organizer Ron Gowans-Savage.
The rally will be “a peaceful gathering,” Gowans-Savage stressed. While a formal march is not planned, he said, “should the crowd express a desire to continue the demonstration, a march to Dealey Plaza will be organized, reflecting our dedication to civic engagement and peaceful protest.”
Those attending the rally are encouraged to wear “comfortable attire suitable for warm weather (approximately 78°F) and to bring sun protection.”
Gowans-Savage said, “This is an opportunity to unite, share stories and make our voices heard in support of the values we hold dear as Americans.
