Smith County officials cut ribbon on first new county road in 50 years
SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Smith County officials cut the ribbon on the county’s newest road on Wednesday morning.
Smith County County Road 3344 was constructed by A.E. Shull & Company with around $4.8 million in ARPA funding approved by the Smith County Commissioner’s Court. The road was built to serve Tyler Economic Development Council’s new 412-acre Tyler Interstate Commerce Park by connecting State Highway 155 north at Interstate 20 to County Road 366.

Smith County Judge Neal Franklin thanked A.E. Shull & Company and the Smith County Road and Bridge Department for their work on the county’s newest county road in 50 years.
“People don’t think about county government being involved in economic development but its pivotal; it has to happen and this is proof,” Franklin said.
YellaWood, a treated wood company, is already in production at their facility on CR 3334. One of the companies trucks was among the first to turn down the road after the ribbon was cut on Wednesday.
“This is more than a road,” Scott Martinez, president and CEO of the Tyler Economic Development Council said. “This is an avenue for job creation and ultimately jobs that will impact peoples’ lives and give them an opportunity to support themselves and their families.”
