TEXARKANA, Texas (KETK) – A man was arrested in Texarkana on Tuesday for allegedly stealing items from vehicles in a hotel parking lot near Cowhorn Creek Road, police said.
Maleek Collier, 25, was arrested by Texarkana Police Department officers for allegedly stealing items from people’s cars in a hotel parking lot, according to a Texarkana PD Facebook post.
Texarkana PD said they responded to a call from someone around 1:30 a.m. who said they saw a man pulling on vehicle door handles. According to Texarkana PD, an officer found Collier hiding under a truck before he allegedly ran away from law enforcement.
“As [the officer] approached, Collier rolled out the other side and took off running,” Texarkana PD officials said. “Fortunately, several officers were already in the area, and it didn’t take long for us to catch up with him.”
Officers checked the area where Collier was hiding and discovered an iPad reportedly belonging to a hotel guest who left it in their truck, Texarkana PD said.
According to officials, Collier was then booked into the Bi-State Jail for the following charges:
