Red River Wine and Beer Fest wraps up another successful year

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL)— Local non-profits are about to receive a big boost in donations, thanks to another successful Red River Wine and Beer Festival.

The annual festival wrapped up Saturday night at the J.S. Bridwell Ag Center and featured over 22 Texas wineries with nearly 50 different Texas wines to sample and enjoy. Attendees enjoyed live entertainment, food vendors, a beer garden, and voting for the ‘festival favorite’ wine at the end of the night.

The event is hosted by the Senior-Junior Forum in Wichita Falls and is a key part of their fundraising efforts. Festival co-chair Sonja Oliver said the proceeds are a huge help in providing assistance to the many charities the group supports in Wichita Falls.

“It depends on what their needs are. Maybe they need clothes for kids coming into their facilities, shoes,” Oliver said. “So, there’s just so many needs for our non-profits and we just try to meet those needs and that’s what every penny from here does.”

The wine and beer festival goes all the way back to 2014, and since then the festival has continued to grow along with the booming Texas wine industry. This was the second year for the Corks and Forks program which bundles the best of both the food and wine experiences at the festival. The Senior-Junior Forum hopes the festival continues to grow from here.
